I'm Dominic Ochoa, founder of 8A Coatings & Surfacing. I was born and raised here in Peoria, and I started this company because I believe every great floor starts with proper preparation. We install garage floor coatings, epoxy flooring, and polyaspartic floor coatings for homes and businesses across the Phoenix Valley, and every floor coating project starts with understanding the concrete underneath it.

The story
From Liberty High School to 8A Coatings & Surfacing
I grew up in Peoria and played football at Liberty High School. Football taught me discipline, accountability, and how to show up every day ready to work.
When injuries ended my playing career, I went on to Arizona State University. It didn't take long to realize I wanted to build something of my own, right here in the community that raised me.
That's how 8A Coatings & Surfacing got started. Today, we install garage floor coatings, commercial floor coatings, epoxy countertops, and more for homes and businesses across the Valley.

Why surface preparation matters in Arizona
Most people focus on the coating. I focus on the concrete underneath it.
Every floor coating system depends on how well it bonds to the slab. Arizona's heat puts concrete through expansion and contraction, and garage floors also face hot tires and daily use. Without the right preparation, even good materials can peel or lift.
That's why surface preparation comes first on every 8A floor coating project. It gives the coating a properly prepared surface to bond to, and it's one of the most important parts of the installation.
Every floor is different
We start with the concrete.
No two slabs are exactly alike. Some need additional preparation. Some need grinding. Others may require a different coating system.
That's why we don't start with a product. We start with the concrete. Once the surface is prepared, we select a system based on the space and how it'll be used. That may include a full flake system, metallic epoxy, quartz, or another option suited to the project's needs.

Why I started 8A
My name is on it.
I didn't start 8A because I wanted to own a business. I started it because I wanted to build something with my own name on it. When you put your own name on a company, every project matters.
My goal is to communicate clearly, prepare each surface carefully, and recommend a system that fits the project. That's the reputation I'm building, one project at a time.
